This will only be a very short blog as I am in an internet cafe
Let me just say that I am missing you all a lot
I am now in London and arrived here on late friday nite
My accommodation is in a big old mansion the salvation army has. its beautiful and I have a big flat.
Sadly its more costly then what I have paid anywhere and not quite sure on how Im going to pay but God will provide.
All my friends in London cant have me at this time. Where I'm staying although lovely is quite a little way out but its on a train line so its not too bad. but its at the top of a hill and to get there you go up a narrow road surrounded by bush and its very creepy. And I mean very creepy..in fact I hate it.
As it gets dark here so early (4.30pm) I have to be home early to miss the dark. Saturday nite my first day here I went out for little while and thought id get home before dark. well i got home at 4.30pm and it was pitch black and I was very scared and nervous walking up there. You would understand if you saw it. and the thing is there's no one really around - i could scream and no one would hear. I am not sure what to do tomorrow as I am going on day tour and it doesn't arrive back in to London till 6pm and then by time I get home it wont be till like 7.30pm.. trying to work out if i can get a taxi just to take me up there.
will work something out.
I'm very lnoely. After new york and LA where I was staying in places either in a families home or in New york at big residence for girls. So i had company when ever i needed it. My dear old lady friend ( who reminds me a lot of my grandma) cried and cried when I left and my young single officer friend who I had become good friends with made me feel so special when I left.. They all did.. i felt like I have a new adopted family now - one in LA and one in New york.
I am quite lonely here.
I don't do any work till wedensday so yeah.
Went to church on Sunday and that was great. They made me feel welcome and 2 17 year olds. one guy and one girl sat with me and took care of me.
I really wanted to go back at night to the youth service but wouldn't as it would mean id have to walk up long dark alley way.
I am suffering from a lot of jetlag - my poor body. But my chest infection and flu is starting to heal. Its a bit warmer in London.
So doing a tour tomorrow and wednesday and thursday seeing some anti trafficking projects. Friday I leave for my 21day HOLIDAY through europe. Then after that i'm back into seeing programs in paris and around here.
Missing you all... to all those wondering NO i haven't meet any guys my age or around my age that are single - except for 18 yr old guys who Ive become friends with. Its the normal story. I always meet great young guys and make great buddies but all those my age are married or just not any around.
Missing my little girl kahlan - she says to me on phone - hello mummy leah miss you mummy leah - love you :)
and I miss my parents and brothers and sisters and my 4 girls ( neices) and my little man ( nephew) and missing all my girls ( girlfriends :)

Please be praying for a miracle in my finances and with accomodation and that I'll make some friends soon. Please pray that on bus tour there will be some christians or some great people I can connect with - especially my room mate.
Keep living for Jesus, I have beem having problems with phone here in london - will be getting new sim card for while here soon so will inform you of new number when got it. so if i take longer to reply to text or email or facebook thats whyl there is not reception or wifi where i stay

Its awesome hey - God reminded me not to fear He is with me.. and He will provide money or the things I need as long as I rely completely on Him. He has reminded me that although at times in past and now I have felt like a little weak worm - a lowly worm - that God is transforming me into something strong. Something that will have the power to change things - to smooth the mountains ( or to smooth out the enemy and hard times - to help people )
I am becoming what God wants me to be - and this trip is allowing God to mould me and transform me into something powerful and strong for him

Friday last week till now
Friday 13th nov
So I started at salvos international social justice commission
The ISJC for short are the Salvation armies representatives in fighting for human rights in the world and in the united nations
we were one of the first outside organizations to be in the united nations back in the 40s when we joined. It's amazing. We travel all overthr world speaking to parliment and leaders or ambassadors and we represent the army at UN
so on Friday I got to know what they do. I had induction tour in morning and got to know what they do and why. Then I started doing research Through united nations 100s of website to get info for the directors talk for Russia. Was really interesting to be pulling information for someone else but was great. I also learnt about the UN
we got an early mark too and finished at 4pm so that was nicE since I was still sick and had had big and very late day at Washington night before. I was going to go out on Friday night but wasn't feeling up to it at all. I spent some time with my elderly friend and learnt more about her. Then I went to bed early
Saturday
I woke up treadfully sad cause I realised today was my last Saturday here. Now I had big plans for the day but it was raining and I was still so sick. I got up early to head out but was really sick so went back to bed with shoes and all on and slept for few hours. Then I headed out for day. I went to disney store and the big toys are us which has massive ferris wheel inside the store. It's amazing. I went to the big m & m store that was very cool. Went to street markets in time square to buy some gifts. I went to rockafeller centre toget some more photos. The Christmas tree is up but not decorated it yet. Hope it's done before I go. I went to lots of other stalls
then headed home for sleep. I'm so sick today. Was going to go to statue of liberty but too wet. Saturday night I took captain Jessica - a single officer lady here out for walk. She's had surgery on foot so in wheelchair. We walked to visit one of the young girls that lives here in hospital. She's from Korea and has no family here And was rushed to hospital jn the time I've been here. She had to have surgery for stones in gall bladder. They removed her whole gall stones. The markle have tAken such good care of her. It' be scary not having family and her English isn't the best and she's scared knowing she has to pay for it. There aren't free hospitals here and she hasn't got health cover although she thought she Did through her school but she doesn't.
She is gettig better and they think she can come home soon. From their we walked to a human trafficking exhibition they have in Washington park at moment. It's been organized by an English foundation that helps people who the victim of human rights violantions. Emma Thompson the actress is here promoting it too. I am actaully a member of this foundation so was very excited to see it.
The whole exhibition is based around the story of a 19year old girl who was trafficked into the sex industry in london. The way it's set up is u get a booklet with the girls writing and drawings about her life before during and after the trafficking. It's set up with 7 big shipping containers all attached like a big tunnel. When you first walk in it's pitch dark and you walk through and hear the story of the girl before she was traffikrf. U look through holes in wall to see reconstructed examples of her home. School and going on the train when her and family were told the lies about where shed be going. The next container is the darkest I've ever seen anything except for flashing lights every now and then and u can hear a train and the voices of people on train. The next container wAs a walkway and you stuck your head through holes and it looked like you were a trafficking victim with skimpy clothes on and bruises all over u. It looked so real with your head attached it was quite scary. Then u went through to the most horrific part. Even for me and people who know a lot about trafficking there is no way on earth u could not be overwhelmed in there. As u start to walk in the first thing that hits u is the smell it's like something has died in there. The sign says. This is where I Slept ate lived and worked. It is the room she was locked in and forced to sell herself. Sh never left the room for 2 yrs. When u walked it the smell knocked u over. There was dirt all over the floor. There were condoms everywhere. There was blood all over walls there was rubbish and bras and gstrings everywhere. On the mirror was where she wrote the tally of how many men she had that day written in lipstick I think the average tally was 25 or so. Horrific. There was a dirty dirty sink and no shower or toilet. There was a hand written sign on the cost of services. Horrific again. The single bed she had was filthy with dirt and blood stains and scribled writing all over bed showing differnt names of clients and what they usually like. Yuck. And the bed moved up and down. There was backing sound of men screaming at her and bashing her and her crying. It was really terrifying but I tried not to rush through I wanted to feel these girls pain. And to think that this is happening in Every country all over the world and often go girls as young as 5. Can u beleieve that?
The next container was full of photos. The backing sound was different men being interviewed why the use tr service. How often etc and if they can tell us the conditions the girls live in. And if they knew how these girls were treated. That was really eye opening. All the pictures were of an undercover artist and photography. A men pretended he was clietn and went to brothels in the area around where he grew up. He wanted to see what it was like for them. Once hE was in room with girls he would ask the girl to take photos of him he didn't tell them what to do he just asked that they would photograph him in the way the pimps make the girls. All the photos were so so sad. The poses these girls told him to do because that is what they have been taught was horrible. He asked the story of the girls and they were very brokenwomen. One was a wife trying to make enough money. HEr husband didn't know what she did. The next container was about life for the girl after her rescue she had so much to get help with. Her life will never be the same n
it was amazing experience and I hope it comes to Australia

Then we went to all American diner for yummy tea. Then I went home and we debriefed on what we had seen
then went to bed.

I went to salvation army corps in Harlem. It's for everyone but is African American style
I was nervous about finding it but caught subway and found it straight away and boy was I welcome
it's a very relaxed culture so didn't start right on time but wasn't too bad
they had cadets from bible college there so meeting was probably bit differnet to normal but was so great. They boxes of tamborines etc for people to use. There were soooo many kids and eveyone was dancing and singing some up and down the aisle. They were so welcoming. We sang probably 8 songs in a row at beginning. U get great work out :)wad lots of gospel music
meeting was so great and felt so welcome
God really spoke to me about fear - that I should have none. Bible says in Christ their is perfect love and perfect loves drives out fear. So if God is in me I should have no fear
each day I am living by that
although money is extremely tight. And the accomodation I had for first few weeks in London has fallen through and I need it this friday I'm not worrying. Believing God will provide something free of charge. Praying army will find something or someone like here in new york
but I have no fear I trust in Him
After church I went back for lunch. The plan was to go see statue of liberty and it was nice day but I checked times on net and it said free ferry was closed Sunday. I couldn't find my friends to ask them so didn't go bfound out since that it does run now. Oh well. I'll go after work on Wednesday
so I had sleep was only going to have nap to try and get ontop of flu but slept for 4 hours. When I woke I went into time square and did some gift shopping and photographing. Then I had tea and went to church service. Based sound thanksgiving which happens next week. So wish I was going to be here. It's a great holiday. People really become thankful. And Macys thanksgiving parade is something I've always wanted to see. Hopefully one day
have I written about macys I went there. Can't remember ill check before writing it again
Monday
was at international social justice commission
I met with the head director for few hours. She is amazing women. Amazing advocate and Christian. Then I worked on research and writing a speech for her and started putting together slide shows of photos of women from big conference for us to how at UN in preparation for the conference in feb. I've been invited back but havent got the money. Maybe one day
I spent time with the armies UN representativ e and intervewed her
then at 5pm I stayed on with head director and students from a college came to learn from her and we had UN diplomats and ambassadors come and a lady from UNICEF. Although I wasn't well and exhausted so glad I stayed. What an opportunity to sit and talk and learn from these people
Got home very Late and went straight to bed
Tuesday
at Salvos ISJC today again and went with our UN rep to United nations. Was awesome. I got special clearnce and all. We went to a briefing in morning about FGm which is female genital mutilation. If you've never hurt of it educate yourself. It's an horific religious and cultural tradition affecting girls as young as 4 - 14
and because of refugees and immigrants into western country it happens in Every Country even ours
the briefing was in one of the big international rooms with speakers from all over the world. It was horrific but learnt so so much. That went for 3 hours. We rushed and got lunch then went to another meeting on womens rights and then to planning meeting for conference happening in feb to celebrate the Beijing platform forum from 1995. after long day we went back to ISJC and I continued on work for UN conference in feb
after work I went home had tea and then went to salvos time square corps where wnt last week to see their dance and music program for the community last week. Last week I joined in the adult ballroom dancing for a bit and had so much fun I thought i'd go again
we finished learning the cha cha. Made me realise how much I miss dancing and sometimes still wish I couldve danced for a living but when syndrome and pain got worse it wasn't possible anymore
I had a blast and caught up with the kids fro
last week. I thEn caught subway home and spent time listening to Christian tv station and then stayed up for speci human traffckinh report on 10pm news. Was amazing and horrible story. A 5 yr old from here in he US was sold by her mother last week into sex industry. At age 5. They would use her for pornopgraphy etc. Horrific that mother. Let alone anyone would do that. The police caught onto it and tried to track her Down but the little girl was found murdered in park yesterday. The mother is now in prison and they are searching for guys who bought her. Horrible case. God is opening my eyes so much to the pain God goes through when watching our world. I know the little girl is in the arms of God now
God is showing me His heart

doing reseach and learning history and stats of diffferent soci justice issues and helping to find info for director. I'm also designing the banners to be used at UN international conference in feb here at UN

I am heading back to ISJc Now for meeting and more work

Hi everyone
been a while since I blogged. A week today I think
so let me fill u in
Monday
Went around visiting social justice services and programs Here in new York
Friday we did manhatten
Saturday we did Queens
and Monday we did the bronx
So my very rapper Joe driver picked me up in the morning
the first thing we did was we went to a place In the Bronx. The Bronx is now the poorest community in new York. Our first stop was the salvation armies Hiv/aids program.
The program started 20years ago which is amazing. 20 years ago the treatment and attitude towards those with aids was very different. The salvation army was the first group to start anything to help those with HIV/AIDS.
The centre is great. Is situated right in the Bronx and is a well known place within community.
From the moment you walk in the door you feel loved and accepted. They have someone to open the door and welcome people whenthey Come in. It's lovely. For those who are poor and struggling with life that simple chesture means so much. Then you see a big waiting room full of people reading eating and talking. It's like a homely lounge room. People often Come in for a coffee and just for a chat. They have someone on front desk who is compassionate and kind.
We were welcomed (Joe follows me everywhere like my security :) in and met with the head director and the assistant director in their office
they were so kind to have us - particularly because they had a report for government due next day. They proceeded to tell us the history of the program - the program started to give a voice to those who were suffering from HIV/AIDS back them there was a huge stigma attached to the disease. There is still today but not to same extent. When program first started jt was there to help families in the lead up to death or for those who would live to help them receive necessary services. These dates due to the incredible advances in drugs for aidspeople can now lead relatively normal lives with the assistance of their medication
The salvation army new York HIV/AIDS program has case workers - and anyone who has HIV or aids can come in and receive help. ThEy are encouraged to bring their families or friends - the program encourages the person with HIV to bring along their support system. They help children or adults with this disease. When a new family comes into program they receive their own case worker and the case worker works with them to help them lead a normal life. It could be helping them find good housing , a job , medical care and medicines, counseling for dealing with diagnoses or counselling if victim passes away. They are supported if they have an addiction to go to rehab or if they have a mental illess then they help them receive the right care. Anything you can think of in helping someone reach their full potential and to lead a normal life they help with. They help not only in Bronx but all over new York. They have other offices and they also go and visit at the salvation armys shelters.

After That we went to another home for young people with mental disabilities - I loved this place. Again likethe other place the place is just like a home. The salvation army has quite a few homes all over new York with approx 8 residence in each
this place specialists in young people from 21-30. They have one 36 year old. This place was amazing and I was hit with an incredible sense of love when I walked in door. I was so welcome and was shown around by the director. The head nurse and the program director. I was very welcomed :) the thing I loved about this place like other place was they have very individualized care. Each persons room is just like they want it just like teenagers room. One young girl in her mid 20s has a very motherly heart and had 6 babies she cares for ( dolls) in her pram. Her carers incoporated this in plan. When was time to eat they mght say ok let's feed the babies and then u can have your food etc.
The home doesn't try to make them what others would say is normal. They allow them to be them. Was so lovely. They get taken out to day jobs and activities. They each have a special day program just for them. So they hve a routine and like a job or volunteering each day. On weekends they go to parks or shopping or movies. They are taking out into community lots so that people will accept others with disabilities. The community has come to love them and have had their minds and understanidbh changed which is awesome.
They even get to go on special dates one on one with their carer. After a dr trip or just for no reason they will go out for lunch or shopping with one of their carers
it's An amazing place. I felt so loved and accepted while their.
I wish out government would allow us to do these sort of places :) it was a real joy to be there
Then we went to Franklin women shelter - oh my goodness it's ginourmous. It's massive. It was an old army barracks. It looks a lot like a big old convent.
It's a womens only shelter they hold 200 women from 18 - to he very elderly they have some in 80s. They use to house 1000 but now with fire and safety laws they cannot have more than 200
this centre is much simpler and more short term accomodation. It is onlyfor single women no children allowed ( there are other places for families- remember the one j mentioned the other day) the have 110 beds that are for short term which is 2 months and they have 90 beds for longer term - up to 9months. Again people have case workers and chaplain to help them get back on their feet. This place is much more simpler and encourage women to do thins for themselves. They'll help them prepare for job etc but encourage them to look for the job etc
the rooms are like dorm rooms very basic but safe and clean
they have a big gym and library and hang out area. It us a very safe shelter with everyor checked for weapons alcohol and drugs when enter Every time and visitors are not allowed inside
shelter but they can visit outside
the shelter never turns anyone away. If they have people needing a bed ( Every night they do) and they are full they take the ladies around the other shelters until they find them a bed. It's amazing. There is such a need that if youeave
your bed for 2 nights or more it is giving to someone else. There is massive need for beds in this area.

When we finished after the day it was 5pm.

was suppose to go to washington but to sick with flu and jetlag still hanging on so I slept till lunch time then went for wander to park and then spent some time with one of my dear friends here at the markle. She's an old lady with the most amazing life story. She was an actress in 40s50s and 60s - she looks like a real Hollywood glamour :) she worked and modelled lots and was in a movie written and directed by woody Allen. Amazing hey.
I could speak about her for ages but will tell u more on her another day
Wednesday
slept in again still sick
did some work this morning and went sight seeing around local area.
Again really relaxed day as so sick
Thursday
woke at 4am to get train to washington dc - as I'd been so sick instead of going to dc for few days I could only go for one. So I spoke to people I was going to interview on phone ( I wasn't seeig centres there just inteviewing people) so u did that on phone and decided just to have day sightseeing in Washington
well I was still sick and so tired but looking forward to interesting day.
But it wasn't the best day.
We got their and it was pouring and j mean pouring rain and was freezzziiinnnggg it is the coldest weather I had ever been in. Well because new York had been bit warmer last few days I didn't bring all my extra warm clothes. And I forgot umbrella. My main things I wanted to see were
holocaust museum. White house. War memorial. Abraham Lincoln memorial
well there were lots of other places I wanted to see and couldn't if was better weather cause things are so close to walk to.
I walked in rain to
holocaust museum - there were no shops in sight to get umbrella. The line into museum was huge and outside in rain. So I stood in freezing pouring rain for more than 1 hour and I already had flu and chest infection and I knew was bad idea but I had to see museum. I have passion for history and believe we must know and remember the holocaust so we can stop it happenih again. Although it is happening again right now in darfur Sudan. That's another issue ask me about it
eventually got into museum and wish I had someone with me to go through museum with. It wa mibdblowing and so eye opening. I majored in holcaust history in high achool but I learnt so so much. Parts of it were sooool horrofic. Like the area where it talked about all the medical testing the Nazis did on kids and people with mental and physical handicaps. Disgusting what they did. Those image will be stuck jn my mind forever. I spent hours in museum but couldve spent whole day but I was feelig physically sick with all I'd seen. The last part of museum is wonderful it's a room full of candles where u can Light one in remembrance and the whole room is full of bible study. It's amazing. The museum was amazing. Amazing. I am even more passionate about stoppig genocide that is occuring right Now in the world. I challenge u all to go on internet and type in war in Sudan -
darfur. And read all the info u can. Genocide is occuring there
right Now. Just like Rwanda.

and he said yes. I jumped for joy. Literally. It was 6bucks and very flimsy and I knew it wouldn't last long but I needed it. I set off and found white house. Couldn't get as close as I'd like cause the family was in so there were security everywhere. Everywhere. It is a
truely beautiful building. And washington like new York is so pretty. The wind picked up so with windchill factor it was about minus4 or something. I then found another stall and bought extra beanie and gloves
then heldy umbrella very low to try and get rid of wind and started to head for lincolns memorial. Well because of cold and wet my hips and knees and legs were killing. My pain was incredibly painful. Eventually my knee and hips just stopped I could barely move. I started to cry I was so wet and cold and in so much pain - I started to realise I wouldn't get to se all I wanted to. I shuffled to the road and waited for taxi. Eventually one came. I asked him to take me to kincolns memorial. And dispite me just wanting to go to train station I am sooooll glad I went. It is beautiful. I saw the big long pond where Jenny ran to forest gump inmovie. And the statue of lincoln was incredible and the speech engraved in wall was awesome. It was so worth it. I spend hour or so there. Then headed to find taxi. The wind had picked up so was battling to fight my umbrella eventually i one by tying it to me :). Found taxi and he toook me to train station. I had hours 4 hours before I hopped on train as I thought I'd be sight seeing all day. All I wanted was to go home. So I asked not thinking it would happen but prayed they could get me on earlier train. Well lady said for a couple of dollars j could hop on next train. I was thinking awesome. When is it and she said you can board right now. It was hand of God. I dried on the train and managed to be back in bed before 11pm. Was so happy

Went around visiting social justice services and programs Here in new York
Friday we did manhatten
Saturday we did Queens
and Monday we did the bronx
So my very rapper Joe driver picked me up in the morning
the first thing we did was we went to a place In the Bronx. The Bronx is now the poorest community in new York. Our first stop was the salvation armies Hiv/aids program.
The program started 20years ago which is amazing. 20 years ago the treatment and attitude towards those with aids was very different. The salvation army was the first group to start anything to help those with HIV/AIDS.
The centre is great. Is situated right in the Bronx and is a well known place within community.
From the moment you walk in the door you feel loved and accepted. They have someone to open the door and welcome people whenthey Come in. It's lovely. For those who are poor and struggling with life that simple chesture means so much. Then you see a big waiting room full of people reading eating and talking. It's like a homely lounge room. People often Come in for a coffee and just for a chat. They have someone on front desk who is compassionate and kind.
We were welcomed (Joe follows me everywhere like my security :) in and met with the head director and the assistant director in their office
they were so kind to have us - particularly because they had a report for government due next day. They proceeded to tell us the history of the program - the program started to give a voice to those who were suffering from HIV/AIDS back them there was a huge stigma attached to the disease. There is still today but not to same extent. When program first started jt was there to help families in the lead up to death or for those who would live to help them receive necessary services. These dates due to the incredible advances in drugs for aidspeople can now lead relatively normal lives with the assistance of their medication

Quick update :)
Had crazy week. Am doing well

Sunday in new York
Had awesome Sunday
went to time square salvos in morning. Was totally awesome. One of best church services and worship i've been to ever. Going there on Tuesday night for their awesome dancing and English ministry. Can't wait
Then I slept like no tomorrow. Slowly catching up
was going exploring but slept so long
then I went to combined salvos youth musical
Wore my new leather jacket - ok I know but I like it soooo much
The church was packed with all different nationality was awesome.
The worship was great. They did some in englsih and some in Spanish. Was awesome seeing commissioner and Dhq staff dancing and singing Spanish
They prayed half in English and half in Spanish. Was great
The musical was spoof incredible. Life changing. I was a blubbering mess :)
it was written by young girl here from the army. It was amazing
people were just flooding down the aisle to meet Jesus in the alter call. So cool. Felt like I was hearing William booth preAching. The church is massive old theatre. Was siooooooo awesome. Words can't describe how great jt was
you can watch it at sallytube.org it's so good. Not seeig it in person means u won't get full affect but one day she's hoping to have it all copywrighted so we can bring it to Australia
for those who have seen heavens gates hella flame. This is up there with that. So good
I hang around meetig some people
I was soooooooooo embarrassed when at the start they were welcoming eveyone they introduced me and asked me to stand. In front of like 1000 people. Me in my boots and massive earrigd and Leather Jacket. I got huge jeer was so nice. Everyone is great had chief secretary next to me and we had gorgeous Latino bubby in front we kept playing with. Was great nite all round
Then went wandering the streets to get some things and now gettig ready for bed
More touring the different centres tomorrow. Going to Bronx and HIV programs. Can't wait. Can't wait
then hopefully off to Washington for few days.

Saturday checking out ministries
Well what an awesome day I had
I had my very own driver pick me up
I envisioned someone in a suit or army uniform but he was a rapper :) so awesome. He was such a gentleman he opened my doors and helped up into car.
It was quite funny he drove me past where jay-z grew up. And where 50cent grew up.
Was really funny
The first place he drove me to was briarwood an awesome shelter for families. They house 91 families and run programs to help the families get back on their feet. Families can stay for up to 6-9months. They run a homework club. They have a daycare and English program. The families get a small but self contained unit. It is such a lovely place in a nice area of queens. They work hard to make it nice and Like one big family.
They have awesome big buddy system on Saturdays where selected college students get a little buddy from the shelter a child between ages of 6-16. Awesome program they go out each saturday morning and do fun things around the city
fantastic
it is such a safe shelter too. No alcohol or drugs anywhere as they search it often to keep it safe and loving for families
I also ended up being there on the day they were havin a coat drive where each person gets brand new winter snow coat and cloves beanie and scarf. They are brand new donated from public. Was totally awesome. They were so grateful as it's freezing here
Then I went to a home for severly mentally and physically disabled young people between 21-35
is fantastic
got to spend rest of day there they were such precious people. It is the best home I have ever seen. From outside it looks just like a big beautiful house. On the inside it's just like a home. Not like a hospital or institutions. And the best 2 things. U can feel the love all throughout the home and and u can feel God there and they also take them away on holidays. They take 3-4 at a time a their carer and they take them to amazing places. Niagata falls. Miami. Florida. They go somewhere different every year. It's amazing.
I had an amazing day. God moved and spoke to me so much. God called the salvation army to this. To be active. Not to be like other churches but to be who God called us to be. I have been feeling that it's time we stop comparing ourselves with other churches because God didn't call us to do awesome Sunday church ( although that can be part of it and we need it to refuel us) but Hes called us to be the hands and feet of Jesus everyday. Bringig people to Jesus everyday throught our acts of kindness and justice. Being Jesus to people and then leading them to the Lord.
Was awesome awesome day
After a rest and sorting through my emotions I went out for tea and went coat shopping. I've been freezing and afte 4 hours I found some I liked. Most shops don't close till 9pm everyday and others later. It's amazing. Awesome Saturday and more tours on Monday with my rapper driver :)

They take 3-4 at a time a their carer and they take them to amazing places. Niagata falls. Miami. Florida. They go somewhere different every year. It's amazing.
I had an amazing day. God moved and spoke to me so much. God called the salvation army to this. To be active. Not to be like other churches but to be who God called us to be. I have been feeling that it's time we stop comparing ourselves with other churches because God didn't call us to do awesome Sunday church ( although that can be part of it and we need it to refuel us) but Hes called us to be the hands and feet of Jesus everyday. Bringig people to Jesus everyday throught our acts of kindness and justice. Being Jesus to people and then leading them to the Lord.
Was awesome awesome day
After a rest and sorting through my emotions I went out for tea and went coat shopping. I've been freezing and afte 4 hours I found some I liked. Most shops don't close till 9pm everyday and others later. It's amazing. Awesome Saturday and more tours on Monday with my rapper driver :)

New York
Soooo annoyed right now. It's 10pm and I just Spent 2 hours writing an updated blog and it's didn't send and I lost it. Arg so annoyed
so you'll get a brief one as I'm drooping :)
I have also realised the time change and my busy and emotional schedule makes me exhausted at end of most days and ready for bed so instead of blogging everyday I'll do every 2-3 days
Wednesday
flew to new York
new York is incredible
I would normally say I am a country person but I'd live here. In fact I would rather live here then Sydney or Brisbane
new York is now the safest big city in the world. Even safer then our cities
many Would remember it hasn't always been this way but they have worked hard
The people that picked me up on we'd nite were so cool they took me the long way and through time square
it's incredible. No movie or photos would do justice
it's so bright you feel like it's day time and few streets after it's pitch dark again

SLEEP IN
trying to catch up on jetlag. Now 14 hours behind aust
I got up into the freezing cold 2 degrees and got a hot chocolate at one of the 200 starbucks in new York and then boarded my pre booked hop on hop off ticket
loved driving around looking at all the gorgeous Victorian homes and the arcitecturr is so beautiful.
Then. Went to the place I have dreamt of seeing my whole life. I would move here for this place
CENTRAL PARK. = stunning

I put some photos on face book and will try put some on here
just stunning
central park is like an oasis and it's so big that they say it would take months to see and spend time at everything
I got lost in my own world there for almost 8 hours. I will be going back lots only got a quarter done
I was in awe of the beaut my of the trees and Gods creation and was on utter bliss picnicing near the lake and then next to ice skating ring watching families and couples in love enjoy and laugh together. It is a joyous fun place. I actually felt it was a climpse of heaven. Probably sounds silly but it was just so peaceful and joyous
can't wait to go back in few days
I would love to bring all my family here for Christmas one day and whoever I marry. Already they are preparing for thanksgiving and Christmas and it's so beautiful
they are predicting snow soon. Pray hard it comes before I go. J would love that. Never seen snow

I am loving where I'm staying. It's right in city near eveythjnb. It's a salvation army place for young girls (and few elderly) who move tk city for study or to start there career. It is a place they can be surrounded by godly influence and support and be safe
it's like a motel it's so pretty
the food is great and it's nice meeting people over brekkie lunch and tea
Friday
Friday was a big day
spent day with social justice workers from area
meet with foster program that is part of the salvation army. So impressed with how fostering is handled here. The army is helping to connect families or when needed to find loving adoption homes for children. Even teenagers. The government is doing great Here with fostering. They have seen what is best for the children and it's great. I learnt so much. Spent a lot of time asking God what I can do with that. Should I talk to our federal government ?? I don't know yet
was great
got to learn a little about the admin side of their HIV program and on Monday I'll be going around seeing the differnt programs. Can't wait. Really have a heart for those suffering HIV
Then I spent hours with social worker here at new York salvationarmy church. Was so good. Showed me through their clothing drive for homeless and their pantry for those in need. They are assessed and they give out hundreds of bags of basic groceries and necessities once a month. So cool. They do employment help and job training and finding epople home.they have a soup kitchen evryday where I'll get to go help next week
they really have a big need for help for the homeless during winter it's so cold that police have said there are times when a homeless person has frozen to death through the night. My heart broke over that and cried and have spent lots of time meditating on that and what else we can do
Was great and very emotinally draining and heart breaking day bit was sk great and eye openin. I am learning so much
So tired I will tell u about saturday (which is today) tomorrow

Awesome stuff
Well it's now Tuesday nite and I have done so much since I wrote last. I was way too tired to blog last nite
so let me fill u in
I told you about how beautiful the train stations are and how quiet they are
so I headed in to downtown la on train yesterday. It was great. Didn't feel unsafe ever
so I was picked up by an incredible lady Irene who works for the salvation army and runs a centre called the red shield centre. In one word - it rocks. Ok that's 2 but you get the point.
It's located in one of the worse areas for gun violence and gangs. Irene said you hear gunfire all through nite and day.
Right across from centre Is local school
The centre opened in that spot in 1950 which is so awesome as most programs like that didn't start till 80s. Though it really started on 1920s on smaller scale
So the centre has these facilities
full size basketball court (indoor) also used for indoor hockey etc
they have a workout room or a gym
they have 50metre indoor heated swimming pool
has aerobic class fitted with full length mirrors
has tap and r and b dancing class room again with mirrors
has computer room with 25 conputers
has library and home work club room
has outdoor court yard for netball etc
has games room - pool air hockey etc
has full length fake grasses soccer oval - worth 1/2 million dollar. Nike and American football league did it all for them to support what they do - both groups hold sports training days and stuff like that
and they have a big drama theatre amazin
they have kitchen and class where they teach healthy eating and cooking program
And My personal favourite A FULL SIZE Can I tell people now. Likr is it public knowledge STUDIO top range room. State of the art it's
incredible. They have a professional top of the country dance teacher too
it's amazing
so how it works is it's an after school program for the poorest of poor kids. All are welcome
it cost only $8 a year. Amazing
most kids Come every day straight from school for a lot of kids it their safe place. A place they are loved and feed and protected. They learn skills and ways to get away from all the crime etc in their communities. It's giving them positive skills like computers. Sports. Music. Dancing. Drama. And swimming and helping them to reach their full potential with their academics
so from 2.30-5pm kids from 4- 14 can come they come have snack time and then go to the activities. They have really great schedule so kids get most out of it. Most do homework first then have sports or dance or swimming training or do one of the many activities.
All children when joining have to sign a code of conduct which encourages right and postive behaviour and the kids love the program so much they stick to them
from 5-9pm is for over 14s. Adults come too. They do all lessons for teens and adults too swimming and homework included. They also do English speaking classes and they do citzenship classes. Helping people learn about America and what they need to kneo for the test to become a citzenship
the place is all about families too. Lots of parents or family members come and watchtheir kids at swimming etc
they do recitals and theatre productions that families come too.
Saturdays is awesome they are open from 10- 2.30pm and it's open for
all ages so it's family day. Incredible fun stuff so babies and under 3s can do dance and swimming parents can do assignments with their kids and just have great time
they are serving over 3,600 people. Amazing incredible program. Giving children are hope. It's like a beacon in the community. Irene is so well respected after being there for 18 yrs the gangs won't touch her or the kids. It's powerful
so many of the staff or volunteers are kids who came through the program. They share about how life changing gthr program can be. It's awesome
So I visited there all day. Got to teach the homework kids and just have a blast with the kids
I was soooo tired that day that I actually missed the last train for day .. I was so upset and my phone wouldn't work so a security guard let ne ring the family I'm with and eventually we found a train with another company. I was just so exhausted at end of day
Still suffering from jetlag
Today (tuesday) was so great as well. First thing I spend time at the corps Here seeing their childcare
and their plans for a red shield centre near them. Like the one above. So that's awesome
I then met with the leader of the salvos human trafficking taskforce for few hours learnt so much
then I went to a homeless shelter they have for families. Fantastic program. Too hard to explain on here. Will tell when home
Then went to Allegria. One of my favourite places. A HIV/aids home /apartment housing for families. Not just the victim goes in but whole families. And they get medical and childcare and food support another awesome program
it's the only one of it's kind in the world
I will write more on this tomorrow again I am so tired
had great nite with my US family and wish I was having more time here. Have done no real sightseeing at all but been so worth it.
Leave first thing in morning for new York it's going to be freezing. It's down to 4 degrees already.

First day of seeing awesome programs and ministries
Hey all
well had great night last nite At church. Worship was great. Had Lots Of hillsong. Was great. Really great. Came home and then had tea and relaxed and went to bed.
Had best sleep. Then I woke up too early. Well it was according to my body clock and headed for train station. Wow no one uses public transported. It was so quiet but lovely. The train stations are incredible. They are like something out of a movie. Infact they are in lots of movies.
Then headed in to downtown LA to see salvos work in poorest part of LA. It's is incredible. So much too tell but I'm seriously starting to fall asleep
I will blog more in morning. So much on tomorrow. Meeting with lady regarding human trafficking and HIV. Can't wAit. May do bit of sightseeing too
God is so good. He reallly is
I encourage you to find more of God in your life each day. He is there doing little miracles just watch. He is doing them.

First day in US - yah
Hey everyone
finally got This blog to work. Hooray!!!!
Well I spent 16 hours on board the plane today or yesterday for u. Had the window so had some incredible views but also meant I was busting half the time cause didn't Want to ask people to move :) hehehe silly me.
The food was awesome by the way ;)
I arrived in to LA at 7am on Sunday the 1st nov. Was picked up after I got lost but it all worked out.
Went straight to church. Was really interesting they had like Sunday school first which all people could come too. Parents too. It was like joined assembly. Then after 20 min the kids go to their Sunday school and those adults who won't to go to a small group. One for men and one for women. Then after a bit church starts. Was farely traditional but sermon was awesome except I was feeling so tired it was really 2am for me :) it was also awesome to see so many differnt nationalitites in the service. The church is incredible. They have childcare and community gymnasiam. Amazing
then went out for lunch with people I'm staying with and their friends. Now siting at their home which is nice but NO backyard NO GRASs at all really. It's like a compound lik of stepford wives. So weird but nice. I have a king size bed too amazing
well off for sleep and hopefully be awake to go to church tonight. Bless u each. Leah
